May 6 news (Nanshan) The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has issued the Interim Regulations on the Radio Management of Ultra-Wideband (UWB) Equipment (hereinafter referred to as the "Regulations")。

The Provisions state,The term "ultra-wideband (UWB) radio transmitting equipment" as used in these Regulations refers to radio transmitting equipment with a transmitting signal bandwidth (-10dB bandwidth) of not less than 500MHz,It is mainly used in short-distance high-speed wireless data communication, positioning, ranging, sensing and other fields,The operating frequency is 7163-8812MHz。

The setting up and use of UWB radio transmitting equipment shall be governed by the ground public mobile communication terminal, without the need to obtain a radio station license。

As of the date of implementation of these Provisions, the national radio regulatory authority will no longer accept and approve applications for the type approval of ultra-wideband (UWB) radio transmission equipment that does not meet the technical requirements listed in these Provisions, and ultra-wideband (UWB) radio transmission equipment that has obtained the type approval certificate can continue to be sold and used until scrapped。

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has made an official interpretation of the regulations。

In 2008, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the "Regulations on the use of Ultra-wideband (UWB) Technology Frequency" (Ministry of Industry and Information Technology No. (2008) No. 354), which clarified the attributes and technical requirements of UWB equipment UWB equipment industry development has played a positive role。In recent years, with the continuous development of radio technology, the above provisions can not fully adapt to the needs of technical development and management。

With the continuous development of 5G/6G, mid-band spectrum resources have become a scarce "gold resource" for 5G/6G systems.。In the "Regulations of the People's Republic of China on the Division of Radio Frequencies" (2023 edition), China took the lead in dividing the 6425-7125MHz band for 5G/6G systems in the world。Because it is difficult to achieve the same frequency compatibility between the newly introduced 5G/6G system and the existing UWB equipment, it is necessary to coordinate the development of related radio applications such as 5G/6G and UWB, adjust the use frequency of UWB equipment accordingly, and plan more frequency resources for the future development of 5G/6G。
